📍 1.2 miles from Vicarage Road
Matchday-friendly basics are covered: the pub shows live sport (listed on Fanzo), so you can catch early or late kick-offs. It’s also convenient for travelling supporters, sitting about half a mile from Bushey station and around 0.8 miles from Carpenders Park, making Overground access straightforward. Pre-game or post-match, food is served (lunch and evening meals, plus roasts), and CAMRA notes the pub runs three changing cask beers for a decent pint before heading on.
Went to this locals pub to see some amazing live music, had a lovely evening , I would recommend this as a must go to pub. Great atmosphere and staff. I did not have any food but what u did see other people eating it looked really nice and great value. Good selection of drinks at the bar at good prices. Don’t take my word of it go and see.
We had a wonderful Sunday roast lunch, one of us had one of the best vegetarian roast he had in years. Very friendly and cosy atmosphere, staff are exceptional and so is the land lady. Can highly recommend this lovely pub.
Our local. Staff are great. Great vibes. Cosy. Drinks always good. Simple options, no frills. Poor phone signal inside which is good as it makes you put down the phone and socialise. Very dog friendly.
In a landscape of chain pubs and identikit eateries the Load of Hay was a pleasant surprise. The Sunday roast (order your beef medium rare if you want medium) was tasty, great value, and came with a solid selection of vegetables. And £15 for a bottle of Malbec was very reasonable too. Would go again next time I’m in Watford.
Lovely traditional pub with original interior and proper landlord. Snug sunny terrace out the back. Excellent Tring brewery beers. Prefer if they didn't sell silly mini bottles of prosecco - just whack a cap on it! Lovely place though
