📍 0.7 miles from St. Mary's Stadium
City-centre Wetherspoon about a 20-minute walk from St Mary’s Stadium, so it’s an easy pre-match meet. Club away-day guidance notes a good mix of home and away fans here (though on some occasions it has operated home-fans-only, so check on the day). The pub has TV screens and a projector, and Wetherspoon’s current campaign invites supporters to watch live sport—including football—across its pubs, making it a viable option if you want to catch early kick-offs. A full food menu is available with ordering via the Wetherspoon app, which helps larger groups get served quickly on busy matchdays.
Pub takes its name from a bank that once stood here. Prior to that there was a church here that was demolished early 1900s. It was quiet but roomy & has typical Wetherspoons decor. Didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. Service was good & staff were pleasant. Would happily come back if we are in Southampton again.
I walked in drunk, ordered some food, had a beer… then another… and another. I walked out drunk as hell, but with a deep sense of satisfaction. Food were damn tasty, and the beer was served in a beautiful mug — which always helps. Overall, a nice and pleasant place. To be honest, I’m not really in a position to comment on the food and alcohol objectively, considering the state I was in, but the atmosphere was great. The fact that nobody bothered me while I was drunk, and nobody threw me out face-first onto the pavement, tells me the staff deserves 5 stars. Also, nobody beat me up, so the clientele seems perfectly fine. Judging by my bank balance, the prices are okay too. I don’t remember much from this place, but overall… I have very positive feelings about it.
The Standing Order is a nice little pub on the high street in Southampton. A friend and I went there for a cheeky little drink, and service was nice and efficient with all the correct drink choices served. There was also a football match going on between Manchester City and Newcastle when we visited, and we got to see the match in its entirety while sitting in a nice and comfy spot in the pub. Would highly recommend for a casual drink.
Impressive beer menu (never seen that many beers on tap in Germany), good food, quick service and great pub feeling. On top of that, pint prices are really affordable starting at under £3. Highly recommend!
Its the cheapest bar in the town. And the aura is awesome. The prices are cheaper than most of the bar in the neighbourhood. I had Guinness which was 3.95 here and neighbouring bar i paid 5.2£. So i guess cheap for the drinks. Also its very lively on weekends.
