The Rockstone

📍 0.7 miles from St. Mary's Stadium

About this Pub

The Rockstone
Included in away-day guides, The Rockstone is a recommended stop for visiting supporters seeking quality beer, with Fulham’s Supporters’ Trust highlighting it (with The Guide Dog) for real ale. It’s around a 20-minute walk from St Mary’s (in the opposite direction), so it works well as a pre-match base before heading to the stadium. CAMRA/WhatPub notes regular meal times and details the beer setup (handpulls plus multiple keg lines) and that it’s close to bus routes (Bluestar 20, 61; Unilink U6), which helps with matchday connections. The pub’s own site also emphasises its craft-beer focus alongside a full food menu—useful for groups arriving early on matchdays.

I recently visited The Rockstone in Southampton to try out their exciting collaboration with Woosabi Asian Street Kitchen, and I must say – the food was absolutely outstanding. From bao buns to Wagyu smash burgers, every dish was packed with bold, vibrant flavours that truly elevated the pub dining experience. The fusion of classic pub charm with Woosabi’s Asian-inspired menu is a brilliant concept. The salted fries had a subtle truffle hint, It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into the culinary side of things. However, the experience wasn’t without its drawbacks. The food took a little longer than expected to arrive, which was noticeable given the otherwise efficient vibe of the place. Also, while the venue itself is cosy and welcoming, the lack of music or ambient sound left the atmosphere feeling a bit flat – some background music would have added a lot to the overall vibe. Still, the quality of the food makes it worth the visit and I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu. Just hoping next time there’s a bit more energy in the room to match the flavours on the plate. Rating: 4/5 – Incredible food, but ambience and speed could be improved.

I went to the Rockstone for a Sunday roast. We went for early evening/late lunch. As we walked in we were told that the only thing left was roast beef as they had already sold out of everything else during lunch. We were happy with having beef so we sat down as was given menues. The staff told us that they had the beef, possibly veggie? And one starter. So we both ordered a beef roast and drinks to be served very nice and quickly. The roast came out and first impressions was disappointing. It felt like it was missing something, one of the pigs in blankets were black and the beef was mostly grey. I had looked at pictures before coming and the plates were full and the beef was pink. Then I red the menu again to realise they hadn’t told us they had no sweed mash and no parsnips which were both listed to come. We did have pigs in blankets which I guess were a substitute but had I been told half the veg was missing we wouldn’t have stayed. Also no cauliflower cheese which I had to ask about to be let down with none of that either. I am shocked that most of the menu had sold out before 4pm and felt bad for anyone who had a dinner booking. The food we had was nice despite the black pig in blankets. The potato’s were amazing and carrots were cooked to perfection. The beef however was pretty chewy and quite dry. The smoky flavour was great but we could tell it had been sat there all morning after being cooked. The pub was quite empty at the time we went which is expected, but it was absolutely freezing. We sat near the fire which had gone out and I had to wear my scarf the whole time. Given a better day they I’d like to give them another chance. On Sunday, it wasn’t worth my time or money.

Wow, we were thrilled to enjoy such awesome Unity beers on tap, a cozy table next to a roaring fireplace and absolutely delicious food here last night. Woosabi Asian Street Kitchen is outstanding, one of the best meals we've had in Southampton. And the pub has great atmosphere, class playlist and fantastic service. Couldn't ask for more, hope this continues and we'll definitely be back to try more flavours of wonderful karaage, bao buns & burgers! This place has got it right. 🙏👍❤️

We ordered the platter. The fries and other deep fried stuff had a bad after taste. The burger was a bit salty. It's a nice cosy pub but food was okay.
