📍 0.9 miles from St. Mary's Stadium
Handy for matchdays: it’s about a 25-minute walk to St Mary’s Stadium and has bus links, with a Town Quay stop between the Platform Tavern and Lower Canal Walk noted in the club’s travel info. The pub advertises pre-match pints and food on Saints home dates and has posted about tables to watch the football, so you can catch televised games before or after heading to the ground. It serves cask real ale (regular Dark Star Hophead and Fuller’s London Pride, plus local guests) which appeals to travelling supporters. Local fan forums also report a mixed crowd including away fans, making it a neutral city-centre option before kick-off.
This is a top tier pub! They offer ciders and ales and non alcoholic options and even did food midweek. They offer a local menu with fresh ingredients which absolutely came across in the fish and chips which was so tasty. Great place to recommend for visitors and for a nice pint in a cosy atmosphere with some rich history.
The tavern looks amazing, like you're travelling back in time, especially that time when the Titanic passengers had a drink there before embarking on ship. The issue is that is kinda cold inside and the menu has limited options.
Great small pub with live music. Usual pub fare and Sunday carvery at reasonable prices and friendly and helpful staff. A bit noisy by the road if doors are open.
The staff were lovely, it seemed a proper locals pub. The food was delicious, portions are built fir the hungry. The only thing I disliked was the background music and decor.
Lovely pub. I didn't try the food, just had a few beers. The food looked good though, and everyone was enjoying it.
