📍 0.7 miles from Hillsborough
Opposite a Supertram stop and about a 15-minute walk to Hillsborough, it’s easy for match-going fans to get to and from the ground. WhatPub lists Sports TV with TNT & Sky, so you can catch other fixtures before/after the game. The Star highlights it as a popular pre/post-match spot for Owls supporters, while Swansea City’s away guide notes Rawson Spring as a handy option for visiting fans too. Being a large JD Wetherspoon with an all-day menu also helps groups fuel up on matchday without straying far from the stadium.
Been a while since I last was in a Spoons converted from a former swimming baths (The Titus Salt) the conversion works creating a spacious airy pub. Handy for Hillsborough tram stop - well worth the visit.
Pretty good wetherspoons honestly, it’s actually quite large inside which is lucky because there were alot of people everywhere when we went. We visited on a weekend so that was totally expected though and the vibe was still decent despite how busy it got. It’s a solid spot for a cheap drink and some food so would definitely recommend it to anyone passing by if you're in the area.
Lacking background music to drown out the sound of the buzz from the bar pumps and fridges. A priority would be to wipe clean all the table surface tops before the rest of the cleaning. The cleaning is thorough but the tables overnight are covered in dust and grease spots from the night before. So these should be a priority in the morning.
Danny the barman was so good in difficult situation .he quietly reassured a customer who was stressed and a bit unwell mentally and reassured ladies at our table . Thankyou for using good customer skills to ensure a safe outcome ..he was very kind o a difficult situation . Thankyou Danny. Food was great and service 👍👍👍
Ordered a pint of Jaipur it didn't look right so questioned it. The Duty manager that serving me said "I dunno is it" so I said I know this beer but I'll take it see if it clears, she did say I'll change it but I saud to her lets see. One sip(which I should have probably dine at the bar) and I could tell it wasn't right so I took it back. Then just got attitude from said MD "I said I'd change it" then I said yes but I gave you the benefit because it might have been okay. Then she just doubled down totally missing my point. Then followed it with back chat as she strutted across the bar saying "I said I'd change it so whats your problem". She obviously missed my point, but also was looking round at all the other customers saying I don't know what his problem is. I wasn't rude once and just got vile attitude. Yes she said she'd change it. But then totally missed my point, and only actually said you'd change it when I pushed on it. I have worked in hospitality and managed cellars in a lot of top Sheffield bars for 15 plus years. I have never treated anyone like that and have never been spoken to like that in a pub before in my life. This person needs to check themselves and actually listen rather than just take everything personally. Absolute joke
