Whitley NeilSuperb quality, soft London Dry Gin, Whitley Neill is made by an independent distillery with 4 generations of family heritage. They base this on African botanicals, including the Baobab Tree and Physalis. The result is a fantastic gin, made in a century old (literally) antique copper pot still. This was awarded a Double Gold at the 2007 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and Gold medals at the International Wine and Spirits Competition and the Chicago Beverage Testing Institute (who awarded it a sterling 91 points). Whitley Neill's motto is 'Inspired by Africa, Made in England'.

Whitley Neil QuinceNose: Amongst a fruit-tastic salvo of citrus zest, apricot yoghurt and ripe nectarines there’s earthy juniper, a hint of leather and a touch of exotic spice.Palate: A very sweet, quite syrupy texture reveals notes of juicy citrus, warming ginger, hints of juniper and unmistakable quince. There’s plenty of fleshy pear and peach in there too.Finish: A note of thick-cut Seville orange marmalade lingers with a little zesty grapefruit.Overall: One of the best flavoured-gins around - beautifully balanced and stunning with elderflower tonic and a slice of orange.
£2.70
Whitley Neil GooseberryVanilla, liquorice, zesty orchard fruits with some white grape brightness, softly spicy notes of cassia and juniper build on the finish.
£2.70
Whitley Neil Rhubarb & GingerNose: Enjoyably fruity on the nose, with rhubarb preserve and baked apple. Hints of leafy herbs grow in the background.Palate: Orange, ginger and coriander arrive on the palate, though it's still dominated by rhubarb. A core of earthy juniper builds.Finish: A tangy touch of tartness appears later on, balanced by black pepper and gingerbread.
£2.70
Whitley Neil Blood OrangeBright citrus notes are up-front, though not one-dimensional. There's intense sweetness, but a touch of waxy orange peel peel balancing it out in the background. Hints of pepper, cassia and thyme honey join in along the way too.
£2.70
Luxardo Sour CherryNose: Warming cinnamon, luxurious maraschino cherry, touches of anise and a smattering of bitter herbs.Palate: A slight, but pleasant bitterness brings depth to plenty of sweetness from jammy fruit and sugared almonds. The sour note from the cherries is well balanced.Finish: Drying spice percolates through a lingering cherry liqueur element.Overall: An interesting take on flavoured gin. Touches of sour, bitter and herbal elements tame the red berry sweetness. Should be a real favourite of bartenders.

BathtubNose: An initially juniper-rich bouquet is backed up with a solid backbone of rich grain spirit. Top notes of cardamom and orange blossom are evident with just a suggestion of cinnamon.Palate: The initial focus is juniper, but the earthier botanicals make themselves known in the initial palate too. Mouthfeel is exceptionally viscous and creamy – this is good spirit, and it makes itself known.Finish: The juniper subsides and gives way to cardamom and cinnamon, with a late resurgence from orange peel.Overall: A most unusual, but quite entrancing gin
£3.20
Hendricks LunarNose: Softly peppery, with lavender, hibiscus and rose giving it a solid floral core.Palate: Spicy but mellow juniper, lemongrass and rosewater. A touch of orange flesh develops in the background.Finish: Cardamom, vanilla, orange once again, lemongrass.
£3.20
Monkey 47Nose: Oh there is a lot going on here... woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain.Palate: Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It's very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying finish.Finish: Wooded and reassuringly heavy.Overall: A unique gin, that is crying out to be made into a Martini. It'll need an equally robust vermouth though.
£3.50
Sadlers Peaky Blinder SpicedNose: Ripe orange, oak-y cassia and perhaps even a hint of coffee bean.Palate: Ginger and black pepper make for a spicy opening, though well balanced by ample helpings of fresh citrus.Finish: Oily juniper and a hint of eucalyptus.

Had a party here and it’s a perfect venue, we had around 70 people and there was more than enough space including the back room. The staff were lovely and provided a few drink deals and were really helpful with the setup of decorations. Would definitely recommend this place for any private event or party!

I liked this micro bar in this shop unit. Fairly spacious with a further room at the rear. Had a lovely pint of Abbeydale Daily Bread. One other real ale was available. Comfortable bar with good atmosphere. My boys liked the stuffed monkeys hanging from the ceiling.

What a cracking pub !! I needed some cheering up after my team got stuffed by Wednesday, and although surrounded by "Owl's" it was a friendly buzzing place. And to top it all, they served Caffreys which seems to have sadly disappeared over the last few years. Brilliant monkey posters and great music, which the locals were singing at the top of their voices too. Not sure what the blue haze was.....hahaha
