A great place to visit after a shop serving a variety of reasonably priced meals. A good variety and good sized portions are on offer making it a good choice of venues to go to eat at. Outside there is a small children's play area and lots of parking. I was impressed by our meals and our whole party enjoyed our time here. Look out for the deals 👀 😎 Good job all
We come here quite often as it's near work. As usual the food was great. Gary the manager has fought a bit of an uphill battle bringing standards up but it's paying off and he works like a trouper alongside his fantastic staff. Epic team. Tonight was busier than usual and we still didn't have to wait too long. My hubby had the korma and drink deal and he was very happy with his meal. I went different this time and had the crispy chicken sandwich. Absolutely delicious and a whole plate full. Just what was needed after a day's work. Also totally recommend the cornflake chicken burger for breakfast.....
The second coming, appropriately at Easter for a whistle stop meeting with my daughter & boyfriend. Where can you get a roast dinner all day & for £11 with a drink? The Shoe Makers, Norwich. It really is cheap n cheerful but in the best way. The roasts & fish n chips were cooked to perfection & piping hot & a salad I had last month, outside, was fresh, crisp & had a delicious dressing. The interior is interesting, colourful & indicative to Norwich. The reason for the review, is the staff. Hadley the Barman, since only Dec(!) is professional, knowledgeable, approachable, and so damn cheerful! One can see he is a kind, honest, good person that likes people & service. He is a real asset to any establishment, so keep your eyes open & don’t let him go Shoe Makers Management. You can teach customer service & hospitality, but Hadley is a natural. I also met the Assistant Manager, Harrison. A lovely, warm, friendly chap, who also exudes charm & professionalism. Either wouldn’t be out of place in Mayfair. Happy Easter x
Came in last Friday, haven't been in for a while due to a busy lifestyle. This place was fantastic like usual, looked even better because of the Christmas decorations. Definitely our favourite restaurant. Great customer service from Harrison and his team as always, very friendly and in Christmas spirit with Christmas jumpers. We had the burger deal which included the Christmas burger and wow what a burger that was, I will be back for another before Christmas 🎄. Keep up the hard work, well done.
I don’t usually like to complain, however I felt it was important to share our recent experience, as it was extremely disappointing. We were visiting Norwich from Scotland and chose to return to your venue as we had been frequent visitors in the past and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this visit fell far short of the standards we previously experienced. Despite it being a busy half-term Christmas period, there appeared to be a minimal team on shift, leaving the wait times extremely long. The most concerning issue, however, was the food. It arrived cold and dry, and several people at our table had to send their meals back due to the temperature. When the food was returned, the staff member—who I believe was the manager—advised that she had reheated it in the microwave. One of the dishes was chicken and was still only lukewarm. As you will be aware, reheated food must reach a safe temperature, and this raised serious concerns around food safety and hygiene standards. This experience was extremely disappointing, particularly given how much we used to enjoy visiting. I genuinely hope that standards can be reviewed and improved, as it would be a shame to see the venue continue to decline.
