We'd seen this pub while on a river cruise last year and heard Ian Mckellen had bought it so had to pop in for a drink as it was close to our hotel. Over 2 floors with only small outside space- had to sit inside as the few seats were taken. Shame as it was a lovely day. Good atmosphere and staff, typical London prices. Menu looked good too. No Gandalf unfortunately but he does pop in they said.....
The bartenders are absolutely fantastic, the vibe, looks, everything is truly the best experience. Falling into a quinticential speak easy/classic environmental where conversation isn't broken or revolved around a television, music or nonsense. I came here because I'm massive nerd for Lord of the Rings, but I left here loving the pub for what it is, a local joint where regulars and visitors can meet, talk, and enjoy the simplist form of human social interaction.
What a wonderful place! Super nice and attentive staff who helped me with my order. First time in London for me. So fish and chips it is. I didn't have a reference but I really enjoyed it. And yes it came with mushy pies! <3 Great place to be and relax, play board games or as I did read a book while having a pint and eat lunch.
Not much bigger than a postage stamp but excellent service from the Kate Bush lookalike behind the bar plus delicious well priced food. Chicken burger! Fantastic views across the river.
Nice pub in a quiet area of Limehouse. You can right to the back and drink your pint on the back deck literally on top of the Thames.Good beers and the fish and chips is worth a go.Always busy and a great atmosphere.
