A Wapping classic, right on the river and very popular for drinks and food. Great fish and chips, nice Sunday roast, Sam Smiths pub. A large outdoor terrace area with nice river views, a cosy old bar and restaurant area with booths and tables. A nice place for Sunday lunch, or drinks in the evening. Lots of history in the pub and the atmosphere is great.
A sunny evening calls for a drink by the river. Everyone else knows this so when we first arrived all outside tables were busy. Sat inside for a drink, with the windows open there was a lovely breeze. Kept an eye on outside and moved. Some food options had sold out but plenty of others available. Chips were a highlight, crispy and fluffy. Service at bar good. Nice customer mix with tourists enjoying the views. Always a reliable spot.
The Captain Kidd in Wapping is one of those riverside gems with soul. In spring, summer, autumn, or winter, it has its own vibe vibrant or peaceful, depending on the season. It’s the perfect spot to soak up history, the river, and a proper atmosphere all at once.
Reall nice pub we found, it has everything: nice pub food, beer, river view and an overall special interior which I really like. It's good to knpw tho that they have their own brewery so you won't find any other type of beer there
Fantastic location genuinely just let down by the food. Went for a roast - not the cheapest in London nor the most expensive…but… - cold vegetables - ‘four’ roast potatoes that were not roasty nor were they actually four. Rather one cut into four bits - meat tasted ok - suspicious looking deep fat fryer bits in Yorkshire pudding - everything generally cold - gravy v bad - even packet stuff can taste ok, this was not! But the counter to this is the location. Might be better to grab a pint here and eat elsewhere…
