Town-centre sports pub on Corporation Road with 9 large TVs showing Sky Sports and BT/TNT Sport, so you can catch the early kick-off before heading to the match. Away-fan guides note Pig Iron is usually dominated by home fans, making it a lively pre-match spot for Boro supporters. The venue actively promotes live sport and is listed by CAMRA/WhatPub with ‘Sports TV’, underlining its matchday focus.
Cheap and cheerful Middlesbrough bar. If I was just out on a night I probably would rate 4 ⭐ but as I am more into ales I was disappointed with the lack of choice, but this isn't unusual and is the reason I usually drink in bars that are more likely to have real ale selections. Can't complain though, very good prices and somewhere to sit and chat.
Welshman here. Visited a few times on darts trips and hope we can go back again. The best pub I’ve ever been to in my life. Great prices, great atmosphere, busy.
Nice pub with good atmosphere and nice pints
Review of The Pig Iron Bar in Middlesbrough Location and Atmosphere The Pig Iron Bar, located at 37 Corporation Road, Middlesbrough, is known for its lively atmosphere, featuring karaoke nights, live sports broadcasts on multiple screens, and a crowd that enjoys a good time. Cleanliness and Venue Conditions One major issue during my visit was the floor, which was incredibly sticky, likely due to spilled beer and other drinks. This creates an unpleasant experience and clearly indicates that better cleaning is needed. Other patrons have mentioned similar experiences, describing how "you might stick to the floor." Entertainment and DJ The venue offers varied entertainment, including karaoke and live sports. However, the DJ could do a better job in engaging the crowd and creating a more unified atmosphere. The music selection felt disjointed at times, and a more inclusive approach would improve the overall vibe. Entry Policies and Inconsistencies One frustrating aspect was the inconsistency in the entry policy. I was denied entry for wearing a certain item of clothing, yet inside, I saw girls nearly topless and visibly drunk, which raised questions about how rules are enforced. If there are dress codes, they should be applied fairly and consistently to all guests. Conclusion The Pig Iron Bar has potential as a fun nightlife spot, but cleanliness, fair entry policies, and a more engaging DJ would significantly improve the experience. If you're looking for a lively but somewhat chaotic night out, this place might be for you—but don’t expect high standards of cleanliness or consistency.
Ive been meaning to write this review for a couple years, me and my friends ended up here one Sunday night after getting on a train from Newcastle drunk. We had the best night, very drunk. My friend was up singing on the karaoke and we had some crack (from Belfast) I ended up leaving my phone in the bar and I was so happy that the staff had such decency to post it back to me and I was so happy. Lost my Chloe purse that night too either in kebab shop or taxi. Anyhow good night has by all and thanks again for having us and making us crazy gals welcome x
