π 0.8 miles from Riverside Stadium
Town-centre spot on Bedford Street that actively caters to Middlesbrough home matchdays: the venue advertises pre- and post-match food and drinks for games at the Riverside and has matchday programming (resident DJ on Boro home match days). They also show live football (including Sky Sports fixtures), so you can catch televised games before/after heading to the stadium. Being in the centre and about 700m from the railway station makes it a practical meet-up point on matchdays. A full food menu (including Sunday lunches) means fans can get a proper meal around kick-off, while the bar carries well-known draught brands.
Dined at the Waggon and had the most amazing dinner. Perfect everything. Gravy fab too. Staff were lovely. Fab value. Would love to come every week!!
This place if great. We have visited with our friends for a double date and picked it because it has decent prices for the food and there's always loads of people in (excellent sign). The chairslaw was an absolute bomb - try it if you get a chance. We have ordered and had the food within 20 minutes. The manager was awesome as well. Nothing was too much of an ask. You won't be disappointed.
Have been here before and meal was lovely. Went on 12/10. Meal not very good. Waited a long time for food. Meal was swimming in thin gravy. Lamb was very fatty and chewy. Veg undercooked hard to cut knife. Roast potatoes not nice. Was asked if would like any sauces. I asked for mint sauce but it never came. The place was very noisy.
Got a takeaway from the chairman, delicious Kiev Parmo. Chips were to die for. Spot on garlic. Lamb burger was lovey with Onion relish & goats cheese. Also had Sunday dinners from here which were also spot on!! Would definitely recommend to others. βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
Best decor of any place in Middlesbrough, definitely got the best tunes being played and the food was pretty good too. Nothing bad about The Chairman and would recommend it for anyone fancying a bite out in a decent place in central Boro. The half tiger loaf with curried chips on the inside was spot on.
