📍 1.2 miles from Pride Park Stadium
City-centre location opposite Derby Bus Station makes it easy for matchday travel, and Derby County’s free Pride Park shuttle has a pickup on Morledge opposite the pub, providing a direct hop to the stadium. Inside, multiple screens and TNT Sports mean televised fixtures are shown, with additional screens and speakers in the rear garden—handy for pre/post-match viewing or if you’re watching games in town. Fanzo also lists the venue’s live-sport schedule, and local press included the White Horse among Derby pubs showing Euro 2024, indicating regular football coverage.
Poor quality and even worse customer service Visited The White Horse in Derby today and was really disappointed by the lack of basic customer service. I overheard a customer politely complaining that her Carling didn't taste right (an observation I heard several other people echoing about their own drinks). Instead of fixing the issue, the staff member behind the bar refused to replace it, stating there was nobody on-site authorized to approve a replacement. Even when the customer reasonably offered to pay the price difference for a different drink entirely, she was told she’d have to pay in full again. It’s a massive red flag when staff aren't empowered to resolve a simple quality issue—especially when the beer clearly isn't up to standard. If you can't guarantee a decent pint of Carling or a bit of common-sense service, there are plenty of other spots in Derby that can.
Whenever I am in Derby this pub is absolutely fantastic for a great atmosphere when the bands are playing at the weekend. The ales are good and very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is cracking. The bar staff must be some of the best around, so nice and friendly. Always a pleasure to visit.
Quite a large place, sports bar with quite a few TVs on the wall. Usual tap beers and a couple of real ales available. Walls decorated with sporting and music items. Staff were friendly and polite, very busy place. Beer was good. Enjoyed my visit.
Nice busy city centre pub. Great bar staff.
A pub without beer isn't a pub...it's nothing! Went in here for a swift half of bitter and the poker faced bar tender said there was no beer left. Funny that since there was a sign outside advertising a wide range of beers. Maybe they only serve whole pints! don't know! didn't waste my time trying to find out! Appalling!
