My son suggested I take my 7 year old Grandson here in the summer holidays to see the The Old Joint Stock Theatre Company performing Toad of Toad Hall. It sounds a little incongruous taking one's 7 year old grandson to a pub to see the theatre. I booked us a table for lunch before the performance. Thankfully his daddy was able to break away from work to join us for lunch. It was an incredibly hot day and the performance was outside in the beer garden. Thankfully there were umbrellas over the tables. The poor actors were less shaded. They sang, danced and cavorted. Children were invited to take part as ducks. One plucky lad volunteered to be the Judge - and then refused to send Toad to Jail! I would travel far to see these performers. This is the only platform I have found so far to say how wonderful they are. I'd love to know more about their bios and see them again. My head was full of their songs for weeks after and I had a silly grin on my face whenever I thought of them- still do almost a month later!

Lovely atmosphere, the pub is gorgeous and has lots of natural daylight. The service was excellent - waitress was so friendly and Mel at the bar was a laugh. The Sunday roast was decent, a tad on the pricy side - but that’s London I guess. Vegetarian options could’ve been better - nut roast was fine but for anyone who doesn’t like nuts there aren’t many other options. Would definitely come again!

⭐⭐

Good service from the waitresses, attentive and friendly. They accommodated our party with a pram and changed tables last minute at our request, thank you waitresses. Food tasted decent but portion sizes were shockingly stingy for the price . Eg. Pie the size of a pint glass and mash for £18 , a two finger slice of tart for £8. I would not come back for the food due to the poor value for money. Good ambience and setting otherwise.

We had a lovely meal at The Lord Northbrook. Each plate was presented with great care and attention, and they were able to adapt dishes to our needs (e.g. my son was able to order a completely plain burger and chips). It was easy to book via the website and staff were lovely. Edit in Feb 2025 - we have visited the Lord Northbrook for a few special occasions now and every single time we have been so impressed with the care and attention given by the staff members we encountered, from booking through to paying. The food is also consistently delicious. 100% recommended, what a fantastic place.
