We went for Sunday lunch after walking past and having a little look inside. It looked really cosy and just what we were looking for. We both had the vegan roast - outstanding value and they bring you extra roasties and veg if you need them which is absolutely brilliant. The food was tasty, the staff were really friendly and welcoming, decor and vibe was great - fantastic selection of late 90's /early 200's music playing quietly which we loved. Very charming pub. We didn't stay so can't comment on the rooms
Absolutely stunning location of you like history and pubs. The rooms are old but well kept. And the one we stayed in had a lovely boom in the bathroom to sit and read. Since its an old building at least the rooms e stayed in was not really soundproof to the street but that was clear to me when I booked it so only don't be surprised afterwards. Food is absolutely amazing with a large selection of vegetarian options. And the pub is amazing.
Popped in on my own for Sunday dinner an ordered the beef. What a treat, proper sirloin with a lovely flavoured crust! Roast potatoes cooked to perfection with red cabbage, green cabbage, carrot and peas and obviously Yorkshire pudding!!||One of the best roasts I’ve ever had and I’ve had a good few! ||Friendly service and good value in a historic pub! What more could you want on a Sunday afternoon!!
Quick history background. I just had to research this adorable pub while waiting for my coffee. While Birmingham continues to evolve, The Old Crown remains a living piece of the city’s history, blending medieval charm with modern hospitality. It stands as a testament to the resilience of the past. Offering a unique glimpse into over 600 years of tradition. 600 years! This pub had survived two demolitions over the years and wars. I have to say I’d be proud to work here. Blanketed in so much history. I was drawn in. I only came in for a coffee but what a lovely little gem. The service was quick and the staff were really nice. Can’t fault them. Haven’t seen the rooms so can’t comment on them. The coffee was delicious and the hot chocolate, I was told it was amazing lol it smelt really good. The fries were great aswell. Nice big bowl of chips with delicious creamy mayo. I’ll be back for food and drinks with friends in the very near future. Thank you ✨
Beautiful building & very friendly staff! We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel, the room and the bathrooms were clean and nice. There was a kettle with tea and coffee in our room aswell, which we enjoyed :) The only downside was the noise of the pub, fortunately we brought earplugs, so we got that sorted, but be prepared for it, as you might overlook it when booking!
