The Old Contemptibles is a historic pub located near Snow Hill station in Birmingham city centre, making it a convenient spot for football fans traveling to matches. The venue is known for showing live sports, including football, and offers a wide selection of drinks and hearty British pub food. Its central location and welcoming atmosphere make it a popular choice for both home and away fans looking to enjoy the matchday experience. The pub's eclectic range of real ales and traditional pub classics provide a comfortable setting for fans to gather before or after games.
Love this pub. Food is excellent. Great choice of drinks. Really friendly and helpful staff that go above and beyond to help! One of my favourite pubs in Birmingham.
Group of us from Cambridgeshire & Kent Branches, Western Front Assn went for a Christmas lunch because of The Old Contemptibles link. Always a warm welcome from the manager, Rob, to feel at home. Both food and beers (plenty to choose) were great, well worth the journey. Attentive but not intrusive service was provided by Patrick, a great ambassador for the pub and Nicholsons. A pub with real character. Not our first visit and certainly not our last.
Amazing pub, well preserved and very cozy. The food was delicious, traditional English food. Good variety of beers to sample too. Glad we dropped in.
Visited The Old Contemptibles and it’s a really nice pub with loads of character. The building has some lovely features and looks great inside — proper traditional pub feel. Didn’t eat on this visit, but the place looked well kept and had a great atmosphere. Would definitely stop in again.
Lovely looking pub, with nice vintage aesthetics. I have visited here a couple of times a few years before with friends. My latest visit was a quick solo lunchtime pint. There was a very good beer selection to pick from, and great, friendly, welcoming service which is something of a rareity around this particular area these days. Definitely one of the best pubs in the city centre.
