Scruffy Murphy's is a renowned rock pub and live music venue in Birmingham's city centre, with a rich history of hosting rock, punk, and metal bands. The venue features a dedicated gig room and a vibrant atmosphere, making it a popular spot for music enthusiasts. While it offers traditional pub food and a selection of beers, its primary appeal lies in its live music offerings and rock-centric environment.
I've been coming to Scruffys for a few years and I've always been a big fan of it, all enclusive, friendly, accessible (for wheelchair users I'd recommend suggesting a call before to know your arrival or a friend to alert the bar of your arrival as main entrance is steps) the staff are attentive, alert, supportive and very well efficient and quick and on point with recommendations and quick. They have a great selection of cocktails, they handle extraordinarily well as they're customised to songs and bands etc. They consistently have posted bands, events, promos etc. But also! Have 2 floors. A pool table with good ques and felt. Great pints, liqour, shots and cocktails - and also soft drinks and varieties for the non-drinking crowd. Always clean, tidy, smooth running. Many seating areas, tables, bar stools, Including two sofa lounges specifically where you can charge your phones etc, even by plug or USB. Great Comfort, accommodation, and the crowd are always friendly and familiar, of all ranges, but respectfully 30+ years so it's nice and respectful rather than a dive bar young scene elsewhere etc. There is also a jukebox, that is very decked out with older to newer tunes of MANY genres. The lovely DJ host Yoda is on Saturday's, but come on down to find out what deals they have each daily! Many gig nights etc. Or even prizes sometimes! Prices are fair and better than most. Smoking area out front, with seats and stools. CCTV, very safe, very friendly, even if on your own. Safest bar I know in Birmingham in rock n roll! ❤️ A true Ozzy Osbourne commerarion too! The prince of darkness, find the newest updates art work, updated glass work, and painted walls of extravagant important, timeless artists here!
Visited Saturday night to see some live music, Plug in Maybe. Really great place, relaxed, great music, quick service. No food on but they were happy for people to bring their own (McDonald's just across the road). The room with the live music was small which was great as we were able to stand right by the band (who were amazing). We were driving and the venue literally has a multi storey car park above it so it couldn't be more convenient. Had a fantastic night here and will definitely be back.
Great rock bar, excellent decor and actually playing metal all the time unlike some other bars I have visited.
BEST PUB IN BIRMINGHAM 🤟 Rock / Pool / Memorabilia Great PINTS and shorts 👏👏👏
Great metal pub to visit. Electric atmosphere. The night before Ozzy's and Black Sabbaths last show was probably not the best night to expect fast service, but was exceptional the day after the show (although no tap beer as all the beer was consumed, even after they increased the order just before by 4 times normal order). Sensational.
