Overall, it was a really great experience with the food and service. They were very OTT with allergies, I was not able to order food &drinks from the bar and had to have table service. Had to wait ages before someone came with the allergies waver and took our food order but missed our drinks order. They sanitised the cutlery thoroughly because of the crab allergy. This has never been a thing with our previous visits, so maybe they had an allergy issue with another patron prior. The food was really delicious, we had the sharing roast for 2. Roast meats were succulent and tasty, the roasted veg were seasoned well, and roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Had half a guiness and I can see why no one ordered Guiness there. It was not the best drink they serve. I would advise not ordering guiness there. The server (Luke) we had after the whole allergy ordeal was really attentive, cheerful and friendly. Made sure we are always ok with our food and drinks. He was really helpful with everything.

Very nice pub. Roast dinner was delicious. Well made and a good portion. I have it 4 star as the fish and chips was not the best. Fish was dry and smelt of old oil. Kid’s portions were a good size. Service was very good even though was a very busy Sunday. This place is dog friendly with quite a few people bringing there dogs in with them.

I had such a great experience thanks to Ruby! From the moment I arrived, she was warm, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. She has a fantastic way of making you feel comfortable and looked after, and nothing was too much trouble. The service was quick, the drinks were perfect, and she always had a smile on her face, which made the atmosphere even better. It’s rare to come across someone who strikes the right balance of professionalism and friendliness, but Ruby absolutely nails it. She’s a real credit to the team and made the visit all the more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back, and I hope Ruby’s behind the bar when I do!

Booked a table here for dinner. There were three of us and all opted for starters and mains as well as drinks. We were really looking forward to this meal as it was to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately, it fell pretty short of our expectations due to a couple of issues. Firstly, I ordered the Raclette and Pancetta burger without the house sauce but with the tomato and red pepper relish. The burger came to me without the relish but with the house sauce. Round the wrong way. I got up and went to the bar to politely tell the member of staff of the mishap. Moments later a member of staff came over and said that the order was correct and that the 'sauce' was not the house sauce but mayo. This was not mentioned on the menu or I would have asked without. I do find it odd that one burger would have three sauces in it. Regardless, I believed the member of staff, and scraped the mayo out of my burger. I was about to start eating when the staff member came back over and asked if everything was OK. I said no, not really. She offered to take it back. I said yes please, I would just like the food as I ordered. With the relish but without the house sauce or the mayo. She came back a few minutes later to tell me that the reason there was no relish was because they had run out. Mentioned that their was miscommunication between the kitchen and herself. My burger eventually did come (without the relish) once the rest of my party had finished theirs. I mentioned that as the burger came with ingredients not mentioned on the menu, that is really quite dangerous. When I finally got my burger, I quite enjoyed it, but my party did not enjoy their mains too much and one actually ordered a side of chips and left most their main. Despite this, the bill came in full with no deductions and with a 10% service charged included. We paid this without fuss as to be fair to the server, she did apologise numerous times but sticking a service charge on when there has been issues doesn't seem right to me. Following paying the bill in full, the server walked away. I said politely - excuse me, can I have the receipt. She said the machine had run out of paper. She went away and printed just a copy of the table receipt, not a card receipt. I was told that they didn't know how to print it and that they would need to call IT to sort. I said not to worry (I was in a rush). Won't be returning.

I recently went to the Princess of Wales for a Sunday roast with the family, it was such a lovely pub with great service, food and decor. I had the sharer roast, at first I didn't think it would spread across 2 people but I was pleasantly surprised as we were both struggling to finish. We were checked on frequently and was given everything we asked for, would highly recommend and return. The 2 servers I had were Pierce and Christina, they were so lovely and were great with my 2 year old too.

A real gem of a place. Opposite the common, it a must destination. With great beer and food wrapped up in a fantastic and cosy setting it is an oasis. Outdoor booths to boot.

What a roast! Was blooming fabulous. This place is great, the atmosphere is very welcoming, it's welcoming to not only children, but also the children with paws. Another great meal and a lovely afternoon. And a big thank you to the crew working - Leo / Dan / Nathan & Katie, you guys certainly know how to make your customers happy. Had a lovely roast with the family who were visiting Blackheath. Service was quick and our waitress Molly was nice and attentive - and always had a smile! Food was absolutely delicious, not just the roasts but the fish and chips and mushrooms on toast. Also very happy to see a vegan cheesecake on the specials menu. 10/10 will be bringing more guests here for both food and drinks in future.
