Got to say a very disappointing experience today. Ordered some food with mum today (photo attached).
After ordering Mum suddenly realised the curry was beef not chicken - her mistake. Went to the bar to see if it could be changed as we were told a 40 minute wait. Sadly it couldn’t be changed which is understandable, but to hear ‘your curry is in the microwave already’ puts a downer on enjoying a £17 meal.
I had calamari and cheesy garlic bread. The calamari was chewy and from the photo you can see the batter didn’t stick to it when it was served, let alone when trying to eat it. It was like eating a condom - never done it but I can imagine it’s a similar experience.
Cheesy garlic bread wasn’t melted (as in the picture) and was still cold which should be the easiest thing to do.
No one came to our table to check on our food even though the servers were laughing and giggling together at the bar. When the table was cleaned I explained my issue with the calamari which I had tasted and left, but the young male student server seemed uninterested and just disappeared.
Very sad experience, which I can put down to a too big a menu. Any pub trying to implement a menu that large on a busy day has to make compromises with quality (microwaves, rushed orders etc.) which is exactly what we experienced today.
Won’t be returning.

Without exaggeration I had the greatest halloumi fries of my life! Also had a pimms whilst eating in the beer garden as the sun was setting. The walk across Downley common made for a lovely after dinner walk.

Fantastic cosy pub. We just turned up and have been accommodated by its friendly staff and owners. Generous and delicious Roast dinner with vegetables on the side. Will definitely come back. Outdoor space is lovely for summer.

Wow, lived in wycombe in the 90s and in this area for 7 years now, never been to this pub. Very good, friendly competent staff, excellent food and very well kept beer. Inside is just what a good British pub should be. Decent sized carpark and outside area. I loved it.

Popped in for a drink after visiting a local historic house.
I received a friendly welcome and sat near to their open fire place.
The pub has an oldy worldy feel with wood beams etc. The bar is split into small areas making it feel cosy
Out back is a large garden area and to the side a covered outdoor area.
There is a good size car park too!
The pub serves food but not all day. There were slate boards on the fireplace showing what dishes were on offer and they looked interesting ( see photos )
The final piece of road that leads up to the pub is an unmade road with a few quite large holes so ease take care.

Beautiful Pub in AONB. We didn't have time to walk, just enjoy the warm welcome in the pub. Home cooked food with comprehensive printed menu with array of specials on the specials board. Great atmosphere. Large outdoor seating, some of which is covered. A big plus point for me is , no piped music and no annoying games machines. Went with Hong Kong friends and their dog.

Hidden gem, absolutely worth the trip of which there is 2 solid choices: park up close or as we did, Hike through Hughenden Park.
If you choose the latter the varied droughts on tap will taste like God's nectar.
