I had lunch with a friend today (14/07/25) and had scampi and chips from the lunch menu. The food was served nice and hot and the portion size was ideal. The bar staff were very friendly and the kitchen staff were very good too as we didn’t wait long for our meal to be served. I also like the fact you get a choice of garden peas or mushy peas.
We also shared a bottle of house rose wine which was very nice and good value for money.
This was the first time I have been to this pub and will definitely return again soon.

First-time visit, although we live locally. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were polite and friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Pay-and-display parking is across the road. We would definitely be coming back.

Went for Sunday lunch, the roast potatoes weren’t cooked, hard and pale, the mashed potatoes were lumpy and the roast beef was grey and overcooked. Really disappointed.

We had such a lovely time at the kids Easter hunt and craft morning. So much detail and lovely ideas for the kiddies. What a lovely way to kick off Easter 🐣 all the staff are friendly and helpful, pub food was good (huge portions!) thank you for organising

I had lunch at Ye Old Red Lion with a large group of friends today. The staff made us feel very welcome and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a great time, thank you. Considering we were a large group the food arrived quickly and was very tasty.

Unfortunately our experience was very poor this afternoon. Having got our drinks we ordered our food we had to wait quite some time. Eventually the starters and mains came out together. I had houmus and flat bread. The bread was cold hard and dry almost a crisp. My chicken Caesar salad was awful the meat had mort been cut it was just dried lumps of thighs. Barely any Parmesan could be found and little dressing suffice to say it went uneaten . My guest had calamari which he enjoyed but the pasta fix was cold and congealed as both came at same time. We did not risk pudding. The waiter made no apology because as we ordered all dishes at once they were not sure if we wanted starters separately. We did not dare ridk pudding and coffee. Both the standard of food and service was well below acceptable. I don’t know if it was because there was a charity event and there were not enough staff to manage. We left feeling very let down and disappointed

Tbh the food was expensive for what it was, not good value at all. Small portions. Few veg and very small portion of beef. Yorkshire pudding was nice. The veg tart pasty was overly dry and hard too. Staff lovely though shame the food let the pub down. On reflection wouldn’t choose this place again to eat dinner on Sunday.
