Why is Lock Keeper Brewers Fayre good for fans?

Listed in Grimsby Town’s away supporters’ guide as a recommended pub near the SMH Group Stadium, the Lock Keeper works well for travelling fans. The venue shows live football (“Live sport shown here”) so you can catch early kick-offs or post-match games, and it’s a Brewers Fayre with full food service (breakfast, main menu, Sunday carvery) which suits groups before or after the match.

Cold breakfast plates and watered down baked beans. Imagine baked beans with orange juice as sauce! That’s how watered down the beans are in this restaurant. Having cold plates is unforgivable with breakfast because it’s basically cold within minutes of putting it on the plate . Bananas were old and brown and hash browns were swimming in fat and stuck together. Good selection of spreads and jams and staff were friendly and accommodating. I think that £11 for breakfast is ok but unforgivable to water down the beans as it ruined the experience. Even to drain the runny sauce off the beans would actually leave you with almost white beans with no colour. Shame on whoever’s department that was . I would in future check the cooking standards before booking food here as there is lots of other breakfast options available in the area .

The food is good value and good quality but choices are limited especially for those with allergies. You may have to wait a while to be seated. The tables aren't very discrete. Once seated delivery service is good but orders are made at the bar.

A standard Brewer's Fayre with a reasonable choice of starters and mains, including burgers, pies etc though vegetarian selection is very limited. Having said that, the vegetarian burger was very tasty. Skin-on fries were also very good. Smothered Chicken was rather sloppy looking in presentation but was deemed nice. The chicken and pulled ham pie was described as delicious. Staff were very friendly and food was served quickly.

We had the Mon-Fri before 6pm meal. Excellent value at £5 each! £2.99 for dessert. Wonderful choice and a delicious food. Would recommend to anyone. Friendly and helpful staff.

Nice place to eat and with the kids, nice meals and unlimited refills on soft drinks which is very ideal when you have young ones. Updated August 2023: Fantastic service, a party member has a good allergy and they was very assuring that their meal would be cooked separate from the rest and away from the allergy food. They shown us the food allergy data too so we could avoid certain foods. A great service.

Had a lovely meal with my mum, daughter and grandkids. The kids played in the play area after. When walking to the car my 71 year old mother fell. She has delicate skin and bruised and cut her arm and knee. The manageress came out, helped me get her up and back inside, bandaged her arm and got her a ice pack. She filled in a accident form and got us both a cup of tea. They were very helpful and proffesional. Thankyou
