Why is The Trent Bridge Inn - JD Wetherspoon good for fans?
The Trent Bridge Inn is a convenient pre-match choice for Nottingham Forest home supporters: it’s only a one-to-two-minute walk from the City Ground and is highlighted as a lively, good-value spot on matchdays. The Football Ground Guide also notes that away fans are not usually admitted, underlining its home-fan focus. As a Wetherspoon, it serves food all day and offers competitively priced drinks, and the pub’s own page lists Sky Sports and TNT Sports with TV screens and a projector—useful for catching early or late kick-offs. Overall, proximity to the stadium, matchday atmosphere and live sport on TV make it a strong base for home fans before and after games.

Visited the Trent Bridge Inn during a lively match day for The Hundred, and the atmosphere was electric with cricket fans soaking up the vibe near the iconic Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. The pub’s sporty decor, packed with cricket memorabilia, really adds to the experience. It’s spacious with plenty of seating, including booths and an outdoor area, perfect for soaking in the match-day buzz.
I ordered the all-day brunch, which was tasty and hit the spot, though it took about 30 minutes to arrive (the staff were upfront about the wait time when I ordered, which I appreciated). The app ordering wasn’t available, so I had to order at the bar, which was a bit hectic given the crowd, but the staff were friendly and managed well under pressure. The drink selection, especially the real ales, was solid, and prices were as budget-friendly as you’d expect from a Wetherspoon.
The only slight downside was the busy bar and a few uncleared tables, but that’s par for the course on a match day. Overall, a great spot for a meal and pint if you’re catching a game or just want a piece of Nottingham’s cricket history. I’ll be back!

Fine building literally joined on to the cricket ground which actually owes its existence to the pub. In 1837 the landlady married the captain of the Nottinghamshire cricket team who organised matches on the field behind the pub. The first match was in 1838. Players could stay at the pub. It's now an attractive and busy Wetherspoons with excellent cask ales, good food, superb value, friendly and efficient staff. Lovely to be able to eat and without having to look out for dogs in the way.

Myself and my girlfriend (Newcastle United fans) popped in here for a pint after the Womens match against Forest, to be met with the most bizarre excuse for a "manager" I've ever come across in three decades of happily, safely and quietly enjoying pubs all across the UK and the world. First, it was a Womens match, full of couples, families and kids. Secondly, before the game, there were at least 30 Newcastle fans in the pub wearing colours and all enjoying a few drinks and having some food without any issue, including us. But we came back after the match to be met with this sorry excuse for a "manager" who claimed (while mumbling) that there was a licence condition that prevented them serving away fans. He refused to consider this might only apply to Premier League games. Zero common sense. The guy who served us before the match was engaging and chatty but had to follow this "manager's" instructions. The bar lass next to them asked "how do I know who's an away fan?". I suggested we could nip to the loo and change into other tops but that just seemed to confuse this "manager" more. In the end, we quietly and politely left and went to the nearby Trent Navigation Inn who were more than welcoming and had some excellent beers on. This was such an awful experience and not typical of Wetherspoons. In Newcastle, away fans are welcome in every pub. I get that's not necessarily the case everywhere but this was a Sunday early afternoon Womens match. Totally over the top.

Been here a few times over the years, always a clean and friendly place to drink. We are for the first time and was very impressed with the service using the room at the back. They managed to service over a dozen of us at the same time.

Good place for dinner, cheap beer with various of choice. Very good atmosphere with modern decoration. This Wetherspoon have his own character and I really enjoy to stay here for chatting with my friends. Very comfortable!

Good food in a cricket themed pub on the site of the Trent Bridge test match cricket ground . Quiet on a Sunday morning but great value food and coffee. I was able to lock my bike to the railings outside the front entrance and watch it from my seat whilst eating breakfast.

I’m a regular at the tbi on a county match day and was there on Saturday 23rd August I ordered a pizza and waited ages for it the female staff member served it to me and said I like it burnt so it should be ok for u and I laughed and said well I’ve got no choice as the match starts soon anyway I bit into my seconds slice and heard a crunch in my mouth and it was half my tooth snapped.went to the emergency dentist on Sunday 24th as it was a bank holiday and cost me £445 thanks Trent bridge inn kitchen 👍 I suggest u get some new chefs if they can’t cook a pizza.
