Why is Temperance good for fans?

Temperance is a short walk from Putney Bridge Tube and Craven Cottage, making it a convenient pre- or post-match stop. The pub explicitly hosts the away team on Fulham matchdays and shows live football—including Premier League and European fixtures—on numerous HD screens, with Sky Sports and TNT Sports listed among its facilities. With food served on matchdays (burgers, pizzas, wings) and a solid draught lineup, it works well for groups who want to watch early kick-offs, grab something to eat, and head to the ground. DesignMyNight and CAMRA also note the strong sports focus and multiple screens, reinforcing its reputation as a busy matchday venue near the stadium.

Came for a quick drink, first visit. Huge interior. Modern young vibe. Geared up to sports, lots of screens. Game machines and pool tables. Good service. Great choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Food available but I didn't stay to eat.

🚇 Putney Bridge 🍺 £7.80 Stone & Wood Pacific Ale The Temperance is located at a busy junction on Fulham High Street, close to Putney Bridge in Fulham. The nearest Tube is Putney Bridge on the District Line. Built in 1910 as a billiards hall, this site was made available by the widening of Fulham High Street to accommodate trams after 1908. This ironically named Grade II listed Edwardian pub, boasts some unique art nouveau details and tiling. This is one of twenty-four London billiards halls established by the Temperance Billiard Hall Co. Ltd. Their aim was to counter alcoholism with 'dry' recreational halls mirroring the grand designs of late 19th-century pubs. This large, open-plan pub has an American sports bar feel, featuring a central island servery with TV screens above the back bar. To the left of the entrance, pool tables sit beside stained glass windows, while a rear mezzanine offers more pool tables and dartboards. Seating is varied, including poser tables, stools, and comfy booths. The contemporary decor mixes traditional and modern elements, there are numerous large TV screens dotted around the bar. The beer selection offers a mix of familiar keg favourites and a range of craft beers. I decided on a @stoneandwooduk Pacific Ale; my pint was excellent, price point was very expensive. The food menu is extensive and offers traditional pub fare, burgers, pizzas, and comfort food options. Fish & Chips costs £16.50. I arrived just before 1pm on a bright Saturday lunchtime in March. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, there were a few punters having a lunchtime pint, and a private function up on the mezzanine. I sat at one of the poser tables to watch the Millwall v Stoke game, while a feel good R&B soundtrack played in the background. The service was good, the team on duty were upbeat and friendly. @thetemperancefulham offers a different pub experience, this is a great place to watch sport and visit with a larger group. I loved the building, it’s well worth checking out if you're in the area. 📅 15th March 2025 More London pub info on socials @londonpubmap 🍻

A really nice pub/sports bar, on two levels, with a good atmosphere and background music (so people can chat, rather than shout). There are booths with individual screens showing sport, and lots of big screens around so that everyone will be able to watch. However. I'm from the North. I'm not paying £7.60 for a pint of ale. Well I am, because I just did. But I'm not having another. The pint itself is very nice and refreshing. But it also hurts because it cost so much. I didn't eat so can't comment, but the place was busy enough at 6pm on a Friday to suggest it is a decent place.

Come for football, not for food. I got pretty much what I expected when I was hungry and came to watch a match. Food was mediocre, at best.

A great pub with a superb selection of drinks. Food is good. The venue is neat, tidy and clean. The building has great character. Shame it is used for away fans when the world's best football team (Fulham) play at home!

Great lively pub serving some fine beers and a good menu. Definitely the place to come, to watch sports on the screen.

Great sports bar, really good atmosphere and plenty of screens to watch. Drinks are well priced with a number of offers available. Joe behind the bar catered brilliantly and provided quick service.

What a lovely beautiful pub and the options of 3 different live games was incredible, Would recommend getting the wings and also massive thank you to Rad for not only funding us a table but also putting on the game we wanted too. Will definitely be coming back and recommending my friends.
