The Spellow is a recognised Everton matchday pub just outside Goodison Park, making it a convenient pre- and post-match stop. It’s listed by Football Ground Guide as a two-minute walk from the stadium, and reviewers note it gets very busy before games. Away-fan guides (e.g., Fulham Supporters’ Trust) also report the pub has previously extended a warm welcome to visiting supporters, though it fills up quickly. In short: close to the turnstiles, established matchday crowd, and workable for both sets of fans if you arrive early.

One of the four best pre-match pubs for Evertonians around the ground.

Good place to get a decent pint. Very friendly for all fans. There is a pizza van which is great on site. Staff are good natured. It gets very busy with about 25 minutes to go before the game.

Haven't been in here for year's but was cold after the match and popped in for a pint to warm up. Served straight away. Freindly place, people having a good time.Interesting decor, it's good walking into a pub that looks different, load's of good Film poster's on the ceiling and good Everton framed photos. It was karaoke night,I usually have a go but just listened for a change. Enjoyed my time in there then set off for home.

THERES NO PARKING!
Stayed for a girls party 30th, we weren’t really bothered about fancy accommodation but this place looked fun. Wouldn’t usually leave negative reviews but WOW. We were told there was parking nearby, there may be but we didn’t know it was match day (it’s directly opposite Goodison park) and there’s no parking on match days, I don’t know about other days, but you can’t even get a taxi there on match days as the road gets shut down so you’ll be walking through crowds of fans with your bags.
Nobody was there to greet us or show us to our rooms so we were basically lingering in a pub until we figured out where the room was. Managed to get in and the room was filthy, packet of empty crisps just left out, so obviously not cleaned from previous guests. No towels which isn’t the end of the world until you go into the shared toilet which had a floor DRENCHED in either urine or shower fluids but either way it’s gross. No toilet roll. A pair of dirty boxers hung up in the bathroom and skid marks all over the toilets with no toilet roll. Empty condom wrapper in the sink. Need I say more?
When returning from my night out one of the groups from another room were lay on the street outside after waiting for someone to respond as the code given for the key safe was wrong and nobody answered the phone to them. My code was wrong too but I managed to guess it, although it was still almost impossible to open the safe as it wasn’t functioning well.
One of the window panels in our room was just not there so it was just open, another was boarded up rather than replaced. Only 2 plug sockets in a room for 8 people.
Comfy beds and a big telly. Some people would consider the decor cool but not to my taste. We were there for fun, not a posh hotel so weren’t bothered about having a flawless room but it’s poor to not provide the basics like toilet paper or honest advice about the surrounding area.
Passed the kitchen on the way out and the door was open and the smell of mould hit before I spotted it, the walls of the kitchen are black with damp/mould. I don’t know if this is just a pot washing kitchen or where they do food, if they even do food but you couldn’t pay me to eat there.
It’s somewhere to get your head down after a heavy drink and the locals were super friendly. But make sure you bring loo roll and disinfectant 🥲

Great place for pre match pint. Decor of the place is unique. Bar staff all friendly and very prompt, even when busy. Reasonable prices too considering it's bang outside the ground.

Visited late evening recently for the first time since reopening. Very nice place, quirky and interesting decor, dog friendly and welcoming staff and locals. Good selection of beers, plenty of foreign and local beers and ales in bottles available.
Worth a visit!

Stayed 2 nights as part of a stag group. Quality pub, super friendly locals and staff. Special mention to Kev for his custom shots, 2 for £7 and they get yea smashed. Zoe was a quality host through out our stay, will be back in the future.
