Used this place for nearly 50 years. A great city centre pub that has kept its character over the years. Drinks at very good prices as well.

The masters Bar is a nice attractive traditional pub. There is a wide selection of beers and lagers, but sadly no cask conditioned real ale. The beer is probably the cheapest in the town John Smith's £2.50 a pint and Incredibly only £2.30 Monday to Friday. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, it's only a small pub so there is no room for a dart board or a pool table. Up the spiral staircase there is another nice seating area and another flight of stairs leads to the toilets. If you're not bothered about cask conditioned ale, then definitely give this pub a try. I really enjoyed my visit.

Great little pub! Should visit more often, which I probably will. Doesn't serve food so I haven't rated it 5 stars for everything else though 😁

Great little local pub. Smaller than expected but there is an upstairs area with toilets. If you struggle with stairs then I wouldn't go. Otherwise it's nice and quiet with good prices

Came over from Castleford to meet friend and was about 9 off in this pub started off as a fantastic night, karaoke was on which we love. The security guy who was on last night he got amazing voice. Been having a great night singing on karaoke and good catch up, then after 9pm on Friday and Saturday we got told drinks in PLASTIC GLASSES that’s a JOKE when still we serve GLASS bottle which can cause more damage and be more dangerous than an half pint of pint glass can. (Got told was Hull licensing law ) which in our eyes isn’t true as went to a few more bars and got served drinks in glasses and we spoke to staff in other pubs and they couldn’t believe that they were still serving glass bottle drink. One rule for one and one rule for other if your saying NO GLASS after 9pm then that should be the SAME for BOTTLES drinks. We spent a lot of money in that pub last night until this happened. Very disappointing

It is what it is and I'll keep going. It may not be the classiest place, and the clientele may not be ones you'd brush shoulders with on the daily. But you will have a good time, you will end up chatting to lovely people and you will probably go back. One of the latest opening bars, karaoke and reasonably priced drinks. Can't go wrong really.
