Why is The Horse and Jockey good for fans?
Only about a 10-minute walk (≈0.6 miles) from Hillsborough, the Horse & Jockey is a convenient pre-match spot. The pub has long been used as the away-designated venue near the ground and has stated both home and away fans are welcome. Multiple sports channels (Sky Sports and TNT Sports) mean you can catch early kick-offs or the late game around the match. The kitchen serves food Thursday–Sunday, which suits lunchtime fixtures and post-match meals. Recent pours logged at the venue include Wainwright, Barnsley Bitter, Stonewall Inn IPA and Murphy’s Irish Stout. It’s also handy for transport, with the Middlewood tram stop around 700m away and several bus routes nearby.

Supper club time! Tonight we took ourselves off to the Horse and Jockey as we had heard great things about their Supper Club. November's edition was focused around a craft beer pairing theme which we couldn't resist and we weren't disappointed!
Every course was ridiculously good, and expertly cooked. The beers paired perfectly and you could tell how much thought had been put into the pairings, with most courses including the beer in the cooking too or inspiring the flavours.
I won't waffle on about what we ate as there's a photo of the menu, but I will say that the flavours of each dish were amazing, the pork was so tender you could have cut it with a spoon, and the pudding .... Dark chocolate ganache covered in marshmallow with a tinyrebel marshmallow porter was I think the best pud I've ever eaten.
There is some serious skill coming out of this kitchen, and @chefalexdevaney 's passion and talent is clear. And for £25pp for 4 courses and 4 paired drinks it's an absolute steal.
Food is served here every night , but the next supper club is back next on
🥃🏴26th January with a burns night and whiskey theme, and again on
🧀🍷 23rd Feb for a cheese and drinks night (We have already booked this one! As soon as we got home tonight! Let us know if you wanna join us!)
Bookings for these nights would make great Xmas gifts too!
🎄 throughout the lead up to Xmas there are loads of events and offers on too including breakfast with Santa and a bottomless brunch I'm dying to try! (Last pic)
Can't get enough of this lovely cosy pub. Get yourself down and booked on to these exceptional foodie nights.

Finally found a proper pub in N Sheffield after 2 years living here. Lovely old building, great beers, really friendly locals and staff, family and dog friendly but well behaved kids and dogs! Cosy, charming, it had the soul and inclusive ambience that most boozers north of the city are really lacking. Food was well priced, didn’t blow me away but I think they were busy concentrating on the Sunday roasts. Would like to check out the pizzas in the future…. I just wish there were pubs like this (or any pubs!) around Wincobank. Please go in and support their business. Well done H&J, I will be back!

This has changed ownership and is still a great pub. There is outside catering now - brilliant pizzas and burgers. Good selection of beers.
First visit and very pleasant it was too. Lovely pie packed with meat, served with fantastic chunky chips, mushy peas and gravy. Very good choice of drinks, including some decent pale ales. The service was a little slow, hence the four stars. More than prepared to visit again and bump it up a notch. Nice decor and homely feel to this pub. I have been back a few times now and this pub never fails to deliver. There is a special offer every weekday. We had very nice burgers, buy one and the second is a pound. It will not be long before we are back again.

Sad to say but this is the worst roast dinner I think I’ve ever had. It was getting worse for food the past few times we’ve been but this was I think worse than a microwave ready meal roast! It all tasted of nothing but grease & was horrible bistro gravy. I smothered it all in horseradish sauce to eat it and I won’t be having food here again.
Staff are nice and the pub itself it nice! So it’s a shame!

Great pub that always has a selection of Beavertown beers on. Every Thursday you can also enjoy a Netheredge pizza with your pint.

Went for food and drinks on a Saturday lunch time , burger ok and chips ok ish, was told there wasn’t even any vinegar. Beer ok, wouldn’t go again though as there’s better pubs close by, staff worked hard and were polite though.
