Three minutes from Emirates Stadium and one minute from Holloway Road tube, The George is a long-standing Arsenal matchday hub. It shows every Premier League and European game live on Sky Sports and TNT Sports across large screens, making it a reliable pre- and post-match viewing spot. It's widely described as the best Arsenal pub in London and a legendary meeting point for Gooners on match days. For sustenance, their partnership with Yard Sale Pizza means hot pizzas are served to your table, ideal before or after the game. Add a house 'Gunners Lager' and other mainstream/craft options, and you've got a convenient, football-centric venue right by the ground.

Surprisingly perfect location! Nearby the Emirates and best Arsenal pub💪🏻. When you step in you feel the atmosphere 🙌. Whether you’re here for game day or just having time with friends, you always leave the pub with a smile on your face and sometimes while laughing 😂😂
By the way, cocktails were impressive! Especially Espresso Martini was spot on 🍸 good beer selection too, from local brews to the classic Gunners Lager🍺
The staff were quick, friendly, and somehow totally in control even if the game days.
If you have time to pop up, don’t hesitate!!

🚇 Holloway Road
🍺 £6.00 Gunners Lager
The George is tucked away just off Holloway Road, close to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in Islington, North London. The nearest Tube station is Holloway Road, located just around the corner.
The pub was built in 1886, although there is evidence to suggest a pub existed on this site in the early 19th century. It sadly closed in 2018, when Peter Mara — who had managed it for 27 years — stepped away for personal reasons, saying it was “time to call it a day.” The pub briefly reopened in 2022 as The Stag, but this was short-lived. In March 2025, following refurbishment, it reopened as The George, reinstating its original name.
This is a one-bar pub with a modern American sports-bar feel. The centrally located horseshoe-shaped servery is surrounded by a boarded floor, grey walls and a red ceiling. The decor includes conventional seating, Arsenal memorabilia and several large TVs.
The beer line-up is entirely keg, offering a selection of familiar favourites, including Guinness. I opted to try the Gunners Lager — a decent pint, with an average price point. There was no food available at the time of my visit, but the pub has recently teamed up with @yardsalepizza, who now deliver to the pub.
I arrived at around 7.30 pm on a dusky early evening in April. The pub was quiet, with a couple of locals dotted around enjoying an evening pint. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, so settling in was easy. I had a nice chat with the owners, who were very friendly and welcoming.
It’s great to see this pub back open and trading. It may not be the community local it once was under Peter, but recreating that era in the pub’s history would be difficult without him. This pub has always been a favourite with Arsenal fans and will undoubtedly appeal to match-day Gooners for pre- and post-match pints.

It's OK here. Heavily Arsenal themed pub near to the Emirates. A couple of screens to watch sport.. the main one heavily reflecting light on a sunny day. Friendly staff

An iconic spot for any Arsenal fan, The George truly feels like the club’s second home. The staff are incredibly sweet and treat you like an old friend from the moment you walk in. The beer selection is amazing and somehow, they’re never sold out ,no matter how packed it gets! Watching matches on their three massive screens is an experience in itself. Easily the coolest pub in Islington, great vibes, great people, and a true football atmosphere.

So close to Arsenal you can hear the roar.
Been a season ticket holder for years, and The George is my first stop every single matchday. It’s just a 3 minute walk from Emirates Stadium, you can feel the crowd energy building from here.
This isn’t just a pub, it’s part of the Arsenal ritual. Three huge screens with Sky Sports and TNT Sports, pints of Gunners Lager flowing, and full of real Gooners singing their hearts out.
It’s the oldest Arsenal pub for a reason. If you know, you know, and if you’re new, you’ll feel like family by kickoff. No better place to be.

I recently visited The George Pub, and I must say, it’s absolutely fantastic! The pub has been beautifully renovated, creating a modern yet cozy atmosphere that’s perfect for enjoying a match. With their Sky subscription, they show all the major games, including Champions League and Premier League, which is a rare find in the area. The quality of service is top-notch, and I can see myself becoming a regular here. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great spot to watch football with a great crowd!

Absolutely love The George! It’s the perfect spot to watch the game on big screen, great atmosphere, and the staff are super friendly. The drinks are solid, and there’s always a good crowd to cheer along with. It’s especially great before and after Arsenal matches, the buzz is unbeatable. A proper gathering spot for Gooners, making it my go-to sports pub in North London!
