The Central Hotel

Why is The Central Hotel good for fans?

Central, town-centre location (43 Corporation Road) and a dedicated live-sport offer with fixtures means you can watch televised football (Sky Sports/TNT) or use it as a pre/post-match base. CAMRA/WhatPub also notes it attracts a big Boro crowd on home match days, so you can expect a strong home-fan atmosphere on matchdays.

Was in the shack, they didn’t put the women’s rugby on so I thought I’ll go to the central with my family and friends they would put it on. The darts and football aftermath was on all of the 10 TV’s in the pub. I asked for them to put the England roses on and they didn’t hesitate to say no. No one was watching the TV so why not use that opportunity to put effort into women’s sport. Aswell as that, the staff I was asking where women. Craft union do better…

Too busy, absolutely boiling. The staff weren't that polite, they all looked sick of working there. And the bloke who served us. Was the worst. Just dropped change in my hand and walked off. Didn't even look what he was doing and change went everywhere. He didn't say sorry, just went and served someone else. Has a free electronic dart board which was good. The amount of people behind us getting served first because they know the barstaff wasn't good.

Newcastle badge behind the bar. Will amend review once it’s removed.

Saturday lunchtime, place was heaving because of football. Great prices. Good selection of beers and credit to Boro fans for a good atmosphere. Top day out even though we got beat later on.

Never been in here either, even though it was on the go when we used to hit the town 40 years ago. Was taken by surprise at how clean it was and big! They are obviously competing with wetherspoons on drink prices, which is great, but it doesn't do any food, which is a shame, haven't a clue what it would be like on a night time. Definitely for the nostalgia hit, which is great if you just want a decent pint with no thrills.

Great place for a pint, dj plays your music requests, and karaoke selection is really good, if he doesn't have the song you want to sing he tries to get it there and then, failing that he has it the next time you go in, prices for beer are really cheap especially during the weekdays some of if not the cheapest prices in the area, it's a little quiet at the moment because it used to have a dark reputation, but now it's brilliant new management been in for a little while and its friendly and welcoming 😊
