Why is The Avenue good for fans?

A short walk from the Stadium of Light, The Avenue is a recognised pre-match stop with multiple TVs and listed football/terrestrial TV, making it handy for catching live action before or after the game. CAMRA notes its proximity to the ground and multiple TVs, plus that the pub posts its beer range via Real Ale Finder, so match-goers can expect rotating cask options. UseYourLocal explicitly describes it as a good pre-match pub with football on TV. Reviews also indicate away supporters have used it without issue, suggesting a mixed, welcoming crowd on matchdays.

Amazingly friendly and chatty staff and locals. Great beer selection on cask and a few novel draft beers. Wonderful beer garden. Fabulous pub.. Absolute cracker.

Nice micro pub with good beer choice. Decent price too, £3.50 a pint. Close to Sunderland Football Ground, quiet when there's no football on! Most of the locals enjoying the beer garden in the sun.

Came here for the first time in February after the Sunderland match. The staff were super lovely and friendly and the garden is a nice place the jam when it's busy inside. The garden has heat lamps above the decking. Had a decent pint!

Tucked away off the main road, a good pre-match pub if you're looking for a beer and a natter. A good selection of ales alkngside the usual choices. There are 2 rooms, so usually plenty of seats.

Great not so little back Street pub. Great selection of real ales lagers and real cider too for very reasonable prices. Very friendly locals and a massive beer garden and smoking area. Also has very friendly bar staff and a very knowledgeable and friendly landlord. If I'm ever in the area I will definitely be returning here. It is particularly good for Real Ale and for those who also like their Sport, there's also a pool table to help keep you entertained.

Really disappointed that this venue wouldn't cater for a joint 18th and a party for a 14 year old in remission from Luckemia celebration with just extremely close family and friends. Hugely disappointed!!!
