Why is The Aston Tavern good for fans?

A five-minute walk from Villa Park, The Aston Tavern is highlighted as a pre-match hub for Aston Villa supporters with a lively atmosphere. CAMRA's WhatPub notes it opens on Villa home matchdays (with a small entry fee), underscoring its matchday focus close to the ground. The Ground Guide also mentions affordable beers and food, while WhatPub lists regular cask ales served. Together, these make it a convenient, home-fan-oriented spot for pre- and post-match drinks and food when Villa are at home.

Stayed overnight after a visit to Aston villa. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The hotel bars were very busy so there was security on the door. The doormen were very nice and friendly. There was a great atmosphere. Check in was very efficient despite the staff being busy. Breakfast was excellent. Can't find any fault. All staff were brilliant.

We arrived early primarily to leave our car and proceed to a wedding. We were pleasantly surprised to find our room was ready. A lovely comfortable room, beautiful decor and fixture and fittings. The large bed was extremely comfortable. The wedding reception was held at the hotel, it was well organized and the seating and venue where excellent. The reception food was very good well cooked, flavourful and plentiful throughout the day. We were given a list of choice's for breakfast, something for everyone. I had the salmon, very tasty. Their was a good selection of choice's in the buffet of cereal, yogurts, fruit and tea, coffee and fresh juices. Throughout our stay all member's of staff were friendly helpful and courteous. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves and thank you to everyone for making this a wonderful day and stay.

The staff are brilliant, from checking in before going to a concert to having a drink after it when it was very busy and having breakfast in the morning. They were polite, helpful and very welcoming. The rooms are lovely and clean as is the rest of the bar and hotel. Nice outdoor space in the sun to sit out in. There is construction work going on nearby which was noisy first thing so don’t expect a lie in, but that’s not the hotels fault!

Lovely place to try. Definitely a hidden gem in Aston! We had a quiet cosy room with a nice afternoon tea with 1930s/40s music on an old fashioned radio. I'm guessing the rooms have a nice old fashioned and comfortable style too. If you want to book, it's better to ring than use the website at the moment.

We had our Wedding Reception here and we cannot thank Michelle and her team enough for making our Day so very special. The Venue was so nice and the decor was perfect. Staff are very pleasant and friendly - made our guests very welcome. Overall the Venue is very clean and well presented and we would highly recommend for a special occasion They all worked very hard and it showed so here's a very big Thank You from James & Dorothy, 23rd May 2025

We popped in for a drink on our way to a concert at Villa Park and ended up eating here too. The service was great despite it being busy. We sat out in their lovely garden which at rush hour was surprisingly quiet for traffic noise (presumably because the cars were hardly moving). The burritos were a perfect solution for feeding many people quickly and were so tasty and warm off the hot plate. Definitely worth a visit if you are going to an event.

My son and I went to see Kendrick Lamar at Villa Park and stayed here. The rooms were beautiful and veryery clean. The bed was amazing and bathroom stunning. However, desperately needs fans or air cons. Did not sleep a wink it is so hot. If you leave a window open you are next to a builders merchants and main roads, so expect sirens and banging from 6am. The staff were great for the most part. The bar man was miserable and cant pour a Guinness to save his life but the rest were fab. McKenzie in particular was wonderful and great breakfast! (Even though we didn't fill it in, sorry!) 4 star. Would be 5 with air con or a slightly different location but cant grumble next to Villa Park. Thanks!

Attended a party at the Aston Tavern and stayed overnight. The interior has been decorated in a Victorian style with modern twists. The brass bed in our room was very comfortable, china cups and saucers for your tea/coffee. All added to the atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The cooked breakfast was large and tasty, and there was also cereal, yoghurts and pastries. All in all a great stay would definitely stay again if in the area.
