Why is City Arms good for fans?

In the city centre beside Principality Stadium and Cardiff Arms Park, the City Arms is a long-standing matchday stop that shows live football (TNT Sports) and other sport, making it useful if you’re watching rather than attending. It’s known to get busy on event days and carries a strong line-up of cask ales. For Cardiff City away days, it’s a short walk from Cardiff Central station, where you can take the quick train to Grangetown/Ninian Park for the stadium; several away-fan guides also start city-centre crawls here. All of this makes it a practical pre-/post-match meeting point with an atmosphere that typically mixes home and visiting supporters.

A wonderful pub for locals and out of town folk alike. The atmosphere is lovely and everyone is made to feel like a valued customer. Family and dog friendly. Wonderful array of drink and snack options to suit every taste The staff are well trained, well versed in the products on offer and friendly. The Landlord and Landlady are on hand and keen to interact with customers. All round great place to be

Don't know what has happened to the food side of things in this pub. Absolutely Awful. Have eaten here many times and the food has always been lovely but today I paid a visit on a shopping trip and oh my god. They need to get rid of their chef. I'm sure he cooked and served yesterday's left overs. I could not get a fork into the chips and both fish and chips swimming in grease. The portion looked as though it was throw on to the plate from the bar. I would not recomend this place for food. It should be investigated. Very very disappointed.

Had my 60th birthday party upstairs and lovely room, holds up to about 50 people easily. Huge tv for events. Connected my phone for the playlist, and they had karaoke if needed. Bar upstairs -staff very accommodating. Would definitely book again

A very decent city centre pub, close as possible to two great rugby stadiums. A great selection of beers, wines and spirits with professional bar staff and an excellent landlord. A tidy way to spend a Friday afternoon!

One of the best old school feel brains pubs in the city centre.. fantastic friendly staff... The best served pint of SA.. a credit to all... can't wait for my next visit. It's a shame I live in London.

My husband and I recently organised a charity quiz night at this pub in support of Mind UK, and it was an absolute delight. The private function room was just what we needed – spacious enough to accommodate all our teams comfortably while allowing us to seamlessly connect our laptop to the screens for presentations and videos. The stage was a fantastic addition, making it easy to showcase our raffle prizes and extend heartfelt gratitude to our guests. The microphone system was a game-changer, especially when the energy was high and drinks were flowing. It helped rally everyone's attention without a hitch. The private bar was a hit among our guests, offering a fantastic array of drinks, and the fully equipped karaoke machine was an absolute blast. The staff were incredibly kind and supportive throughout, contributing to our successful fundraising efforts for Mind UK. Their assistance was invaluable, and we're already planning to book another event here soon. A huge thank you to the entire team for making our night memorable and for aiding us in raising significant funds for such a crucial cause. Highly recommended for any event needs – they truly go above and beyond!

Fun fact: Pigeons are able to produce milk (crop milk), this milk is high in protein and antioxidants but has the texture of cottage cheese. The roller coaster of emotion from reading that fact just summarises what I feel about this pub whenever I step in. Would come back here for cheap drinks but I think the picture here captures the vibe that you can almost smell it, it’s an amazing pub.
