Blue Bell is a central Cardiff pub (33 High Street, CF10 1PU) that actively shows live sport, including major football like the Champions League final, and promotes fixtures on its channels. Posts reference games shown “live on our screens,” and they advertise sports on big screens. For matchdays, it’s convenient to meet in the city centre before or after a game or to watch on TV if you’re not heading to the stadium. The pub serves food with stated kitchen hours (most days until 20:00), helpful for pre- or post-match meals, and it keeps late weekend opening (to 02:00), covering evening kick-offs. Visit Cardiff also lists the venue with its address and highlights its food and drink offer, reinforcing its role as a city-centre matchday option.

It was lovely going to the Bluebell (formerly the Goat Major). The place hasn't changed at all. All of the beautiful old features have been maintained. Great to see! Although we didn't eat here today. They had a very good menu. The chap at the bar was helpful and friendly. I overheard him offer to open the ladies toilets on ground level for some ladies, because the toilets there were upstairs! So, good access from the street but not easy for the conveniences there was a good Size outside seating area for smoking and enjoying company on a warmer day. We will be back, and maybe sample some food next time. 😋

Seatings are spacious and comfortable. Great place to chill and relax. Staff are friendly and helpful. We tried the Taste of Wales and ordered Welsh rarebit and glamorgan sausage. Both are yummy with right portions and good price.

Delicious food and warm service right by the castle
I visited The Blue Bell twice during my stay in Cardiff—first for the Welsh Rarebit and then again for the traditional Wells faggots. Both were absolutely delicious, with generous portions and very fair prices (£5.50 and £11.95). The pub is cosy, peaceful, and just steps away from Cardiff Castle. Andy, the server, was friendly and attentive, and there was no wait at all. A great spot for tasty local food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Had Sunday lunch here which was a major let down. The meat was so tough, you couldn't cut it with a normal knife. It tasted as though it was leftover from last Sunday's lunch. Broccoli and carrots were out of a frozen packet, I wasn't given any baked leeks and the food was cold.
Good location across from Cardiff Castle but I wouldn't come here again

The food lacked flavor, and even the Sunday Roast was a little cold, the mash potatoes lacked flavor as well, the only thing we really liked was The Welsh Cawl was good, with taste. The environment was nice, and the sevice was really nice

A delightful pub located right across from the entrance of Cardiff Castle. I enjoyed a good pint here while I rested after visiting the castle. Food is okay if you need a simple lunch. Staff is friendly but busy with so many tourists popping in to see an old Welsh pub interiors. Do drop in for a pint!

Lovely classic pub at the top of the High Street a stones throw from Cardiff Castle. Their menu is small with typical pub fare, only crisps for us on this visit but will definitely be back to sample their fish and chips. The drinks were good, the seating was cozy and the staff were friendly. We will definitely return
