What a fantastic gem! The landlord is of a disappearing generation of people who adores what he does and had an infectious enthusiasm that adds hugely to the enjoyment. Huge (6+) real cider selection, only two real ales - but Harveys counts as 4 in my book! Only had beer, but they do have food including homemade pies!

Top gaff. Fantastic food, come in here regularly and never been disappointed. The steak and chips is particularly smashing, and love the landlord’s “spoken menu”, saves on paper! 🤣 Fine selection of gins on offer, and the beer here is quality, especially the Guinness. Hosts birthdays, weddings, and other parties and the food spreads for events always look lovely. It’s definitely a blast from the past in there and overall love its character and charm.

Just for being what it is. The Victoria is a proper friendly community pub with the boss outside peeling spuds. Cold tasty beer including a couple from the cask. Wonderful service provided by the young lady at the bar (maybe waiting for her turn to peel the tatties). A great, simple eastend boozer with a smile on its face. A great place for a drink. The extra photo is one of the wartime iron stretchers now turned into railings nearby, bet every one has a story to tell!

Absolutely delicious. The staff is super kind (and funny) and the food is great. We ordered the steak&ale pie that was DELICIOUS (I recommend the mash over the chips)and the gravy is really good. The place feels safe, the staff has masks, they have antibacterial gel at the entrance, the toilets are clean and the space is wide. I highly recommend it!! Edit: Shepherd's pie is absolutely delicious too, highly recommended

The legend that is @lostpintproject (You should give him a follow if you don't already) introduced me to this stunning boozer on his Christmas Pub Crawl with some of the top pub enthusiasts in all of London town. The roll call: @airalex @londonpubexplorer @pintandanotherone @scottyboy71 Now back to the pub The Victoria is all what you want from a backstreet boozer; a friendly bunch of locals, great bar staff and a setting that oozes character. I was so comfortable there I even filmed a whack yourself wednesday of me sampling a lovely pint of @harveysbrewery Sussex Best. You have also got the brucey bonus of a fantastic cider menu on offer. My handy tip is if you’re looking for a pub after delving into the beer mile consider going to the Victoria as its a great equaliser and delivers on what a public house should be.

Ordered a pint of Guinness and the keg needed changing. The barman poured a Guinness that was half foam and began scooping out the foam with a knife to top up. I saw what he was doing and asked for a fresh pint instead as he’d spent a good five mins scooping out foam and topping up. He said he’d pour a fresh one but then brought us the original old, cakey pint. And he was quick to assure us they get awards for their Guinness and that this was a fresh pour. Needless to say, the pint was disgusting and undrinkable. It speaks to a real lack of pride in product and no self respecting publican would have served that pint. To add insult to injury, we had to pay more than the sum of our two drinks to meet the minimum for card payment. Really disappointing considering it’s a lovely venue. Won’t be returning.
