Why is The Blind Monkey good for fans?
Matchdays are well-supported here: the pub posts specific football TV listings (e.g., Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston) and promotes sport on its socials, so you can watch live games pre- or post-match. Food is served daily until 9pm, useful for early kick-offs or late finishes. An Oxford United fan report describes using The Blind Monkey as a pre-match stop “north of the ground,” showing it’s a workable base away from the most crowded spots near Hillsborough. The bar offers both mainstream lagers and local cask from Don Valley Brewery, so mixed groups can find something they like. There’s also plenty of outdoor/covered space, which helps larger groups on busy matchdays.

Went to watch the F1 unplanned and we fell in love with this pub! The staff were lovely, went above and beyond to make sure we got a great watching experience! Opened up the outdoors and sorted everything flawlessly! The young lady with curly hair behind the bar was so lovely and welcoming, a real credit to the pub! We had two pints with the F1 and saw pizzas coming out the kitchen, we will definitely be trying those next time we visit! We had such an enjoyable time that we think this will be our usual spot in future!

Amazing decor, a great selection of cask and draught ales with knowledgeable staff. The pint was well kept and tasty too many lighter ales for my liking, but I guess they chop and change so luck of the draw.

A traditional English pub with lovely interior and good selection of beers. A lovely garden to hang out during summer time. The fish and chips are lightly battered with great favours. Good value for money.

A hidden gem in Walkley with a fantastic beer garden with plenty of covered areas. Good selection of beers and wine; try some of the German pilsners on draught they are lovely! Inside the decor is fun and inviting; I am yet to discover what is downstairs behind the locked metal doors! Not had any food here before so can’t review the grub, but it ranks in my top 3 pubs in Walkley.
