21 Ashton Rd, Ashton Gate, Bristol BS3 2EA, United Kingdom
Why is The Rising Sun good for fans?
A classic pre-match spot between Ashton Gate and Greville Smyth Park, The Rising Sun shows live football (Premier League, EFL and Champions League) with multiple big screens, creating a strong matchday atmosphere. CAMRA notes it’s popular with sports fans due to proximity to Ashton Gate, and local coverage highlights around a dozen TV screens, making it easy to catch the action from almost anywhere inside or in the garden. It’s part of Craft Union, whose page for this venue actively promotes live fixtures and caters to both home and away supporters. Handy opening hours and the short walk to the stadium make it a convenient meet-up before or after games.
Absolutely disgusting. My friend and her daughter who is disabled and none verbal and a wheelchair user, which should not be relevant at all. The daughter is 25 yes old but was only drinking a J20 was asked to leave for no apparent reasons . When questioned why was told just to leave as her daughter didn’t have ID when pointed out she was drinking just J20 which is not alcoholic they were told to leave. Kind and caring people they are not. How dare they treat people this way and they need educated on human dignity and kindness.

I use the venue for playing pool/darts with SEN clients. Place is clean and tidy, reasonably price and equipment is in good order

Cannot believe I haven't been here before! Just came for a casual drink, it's so cheap compared to pubs up the road! Great beer garden, little stage at the back for music! Can't wait to come again

Been here twice now and have found the security staff to be absolutely awful! I am a disabled man and have to have my medical bag with me when I am out. The first time I came here with my Dad, a security GUARD took my bag and had a look inside my bag (I understand it's their job etc), but to take me medical stuff out in full view of everyone was extremely embarrassing and emotional for me. Fast forward a year later (Saturday 2nd August), me and my Dad saw a guy in a motor wheelchair trying his best to enter another entrance with his mate, only for the idiot security guy to refuse him entry! I was with my Dad and a idiot security guy told me to take my baseball cap off when entering the so called pub! In the PUB itself I saw a few City fans wearing baseball caps. The owner shouldn't be involved in the pub owning business at all. Security got NO respect for disabled people like myself and the guy with the motor wheelchair (hope he is OK?) This pub should never have been reopened in the first place. Owner is an absolute disgrace who probably cares about himself/herself! If you are disabled, then go to the BEST pub in the area: Three Lions on West Street. The owner Sean treats everyone with respect there. Rising Sun is a hell hole!!

Good use of space out the back as a beer garden. Toilets looked like they hadnt been cleaned in a while, and looked dated and grubby. One female loo was out of order which left one toilet in a very busy pub. Very helpful staff with getting England rugby on the big screens of which there were a few. No food available, but staff was happy for us to bring our own food in.. (convenience store just down the road).

Very welcoming landlord & landlady.. lots of screens with a variety of sports being shown. The live music event (GlastSUNbury) was excellent with some great vocalist! Hoping they make it an annual event!
