105 Vicarage Rd, Watford, WD18 0EY, United Kingdom
Why is No.8 at The Red Lion good for fans?
Directly opposite Watford’s Vicarage Road, the pub is described by visitors as being “just facing the Watford FC stadium” and getting packed on matchdays. It’s traditionally a home-fan haunt after games and even features on a Watford home-fan pub crawl, making it a natural rally point before and after fixtures. The venue also advertises live sports, so fans who aren’t at the ground (or want early/late kick-offs) can still watch the football. In short: right-by-the-ground location, busy matchday atmosphere, and live sport on TV make it a dependable stop for Hornets matchdays.

Was our first time here today, the food was absolutely amazing and the staff and locals were very welcoming and included us in conversation, was a great experience and will definitely be coming back

Just popped in cos they're promoting real ales @ £2.99 a pint on Mondays and Wednesdays. Is a relaxed atmosphere out of match day: antipodeans serving and old white customers. Sadly, the choice of ales was limited to one, but it was ok. They've improved the outside, could be a bit more calmer colours inside, whilst keeping the Watford memorabilia. All-in-all, an ok local!

Friendly, good value pub. Right next to the Watford FC ground and a popular place for Watford fans to have a post-match celebration. Often has really good live music on match day...

This place has surprisingly great food (not just basic 'pub' food) lovely staff and a calm, inviting atmosphere. I live just down the street and unfortunately did not realise what a gem this was until a recent unplanned visit, despite having walked past it a million times. Now that we know what a great spot this is, we'll definitely be returning frequently! The bruschetta was incredible!

A little Gem of a place. Don't let the exterior fool you. This place has a really nice beer garden also, the staff are really friendly in this place, and the music not to load. We didn't have any food so unable to comment on that but for a nice drink I recommend this place. I would avoid on match day! The last time I went they were still not accepting card payment which is really annoying. They did have a cash machine but this was Not free to use.
Please allow card payments! :-)

A nice pub that, after going through several owners, has started to really pick up. It is family friendly, and offers a nice selection of lagers, but no draught ales. Food is always good and nicely priced.
Since it reopened the kitchen has closed and its opening hours have been cut, turning what had been a promising pub into an empty shell.
Salsa evenings and match days are what keep it from going under.
