Set on Phoenix Park in Longton, The Pepper Mill shows major sports live on indoor screens and lists this as part of its offer, making it a practical spot to watch early/late kick-offs. It serves food all day (including a Sunday carvery), so groups can get a pre- or post-match meal. Facilities include a car park, and Marston’s notes the site sits on a retail park by the A50—handy for drivers on matchdays.

The pub was empty just enough people I can count on one.hand but there was few dirty tables the food was ok for a 40 minute wait our lasagne was burnt round the edges and paid for a side of chips £3 and to be precise there was 8 chips next to the lasagne bowl with my 🥧 and chips peas and gravy that was nice the £34 with 2 cokes I thought was pushing the boat out abit considering the portion size and no deals as kids holidays the coke glasses were dirty aswell not very clean place to eat and there was a little girl roughly bout 6 years old running carrying knifes to put in a tray she dropped some knifes and still put in the tray which I thought was bang out of order

This is my 4th visit to the Pepper Mill, well travelling from Scotland on Business. The place never disappoints, so taking a small detour on my journey down south is definitely worth it.
You are greeted by friendly, polite, and attentive staff, they have a great selection of food, drink and delicious desert. Caitlyn and Gemma served me with a smile, I highly recommend the hunters chicken.
Open and airy atmosphere.
Would definitely recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Upon arrival the pub was empty so I assumed we wouldn’t have to wait long for our food….. how wrong was I. As I went up to the bar to order our food there was already a lady complaining about the time she’s been waiting for her food, anyway I ordered our food and went back to the table; after 40 minutes of waiting I asked a waitress to ask how long the food would be, she came back and said we would have our food in 5 minutes, another 20 minutes go by so I get up and go to bar to ask how long food would be, at this point I see the food being taken to our table, so I went over to the table to eat, but what was presented to me was far from edible. The onion rings and mushrooms were burnt and dry, I asked for the steak to be cooked medium and it came rare, the chips were also greasy, I asked a waitress to get me a manager, and the “ chef “ came out to ask me what was wrong with the food, I told her and she was not happy I didn’t like the food and insisted it was fine and continued to start a argument about it, I asked again to speak to a manager and she walked off so I went to get a manager and explained my issue to him, he said that his staff had accused me of swearing at them therefore he would have to think about giving me a refund! Least to say I got my refund in the end! Customer Service is shocking and the food is even more shocking, this place needs shutting down!!! If I could give 0 stars I would!

Had a wonderful evening in the pepper mill. Lovely food at a reasonable price. Fabulous atmosphere felt on entry to the pub with scented candle and warm ambience created by subtle background music.
Huge thank you to the staff Sarah, Ethan and Cheryl who always make you feel welcome.
Cannot wait for next visit!

waited over an hour and a half for a hunters chicken and the ultimate chicken and rib platter, not only was the food cold but underwhelming and saddening the portion sizes were terrible and i had to go and get a mcdonald’s after because i was still hungry the pea shoots were soggy and discoloured there was one chef and one waiter who was a trainee over the time i was there i had seen the chef come out of the kitchen in a tracksuit and petting a dog then proceeding to walk straight back into the kitchen on another occasion she came out holding a bottle of alcohol and drinking it while customers were sat waiting for their food. the food was okay but nothing breathtaking and overall i am so disappointed with this, will not be visiting again

Myself, my partner and our 2 teenagers went to the Pepper Mill today. We have been before and on previous occasions found the food quite nice. When we got there we saw signs to say they were only serving carvery today but that was fine as we all wanted parts of a carvery anyway. My family sat down and I got the drinks, my partners lemonade tasted like tonic water but he said it was fine he would just drink it anyway. I ordered the carverys and we went to get our food. To say I was disappointed was an understatement! The meats looked dry, there were no Yorkshire puddings, 1 spoon of mashed potato left, the roast potatoes looked grey and although the veg looked ok some didn't taste right. My partner and one of our children decided to wait for them to bring our some Yorkshire puddings and when they did there were no utensils to pick up the Yorkshires and a lady was using her hands to pick which one she would prefer, even putting some on my partner and child's plates. It wouldn't have been so bad if there was more choice of a menu, but given that they were only serving carvery, I would have expected there to be plenty of food to go around, maybe more of a choice for trimmings and definitely utensils for people to serve themselves. The only positives I can give is that the place was clean (didn't go anywhere other than the bar, our table and to get the carvery) and that the staff were lovely. Very pleasant and welcoming. But unfortunately I won't be returning, it was definitely not worth the £60 we paid.

Very nice atmosphere lovely pub for all.
The food was good part from the pizza was little cold & the gammon meal was little greasy, left a bad taste after.
We did get asked if everything was ok at the end but my partner said leave it as we both had our meals.
Overall nice pub.

Absolutely vile. The cutlery was filthy and looked like it hadn’t even been rinsed, let alone washed properly. Staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves to notice anything going on around them. My partner’s glass was cloudy and mine had someone else’s lipstick still on it. Disgusting. We didn’t even bother ordering food after seeing the state of the place. I’ve heard plenty about this pub recently and none of it good. Judging by the recent reviews, the staff are being treated terribly which is not a place i want to put my money into. The new manager clearly hasn’t got a clue and is running the place into the ground. I hadn’t been in for a few years and it’s honestly heartbreaking to see how far it’s fallen. This place used to be brilliant. Not anymore.
