I used to work in this pub in the 1990s. This is thr first time I have been back in 30 years, and this time with the family. I was really impressed with the changes but the great atmosphere remained the same. The food was good and very quick. The staff were very pleasant and professional. Nice nostalgic visit. Thanks for the continuing the nice memories.

This place is your usual run-of-the-mill pub restaurant serving a very nice choice of food options. Like so many other places it's dog friendly so don't be surprised to see people/families with their dogs in tow, fine if you're happy with dogs but not so much if you don't like them.

Friendly helpful staff.Hollie was her normal smiling helpful self xx amazing food on a healthy eating plan everything has calorie information and helped me with choices and information i had a kids meal as cant eat much and this was not a problem. The lemon sorbet i had for dessert was beautiful .Hats off to you xxx

Update: This used to be my favourite place to have a night out. Sadly in the past half the year the food quality and also the quantity went sideways a lot and prices went sky high. You can check my photos uploaded here to see the 1st and the last meal we had. There are massive differences in between these. 😑😑😑 Delicious food, great staff and really friendly environment 😊🥂🍔 Will definitely be back and recommend to others 😋

Worst food I have eaten in Portsmouth I have the Halloumi on a pancake thing, it was rock hard as if left out and stale, they changed it, my colleague had hunters chicken and again Richard as if put in the microwave and overcooked, bar had no ice for drinks and fridges were not working so nothing cold. Green King look after your landlords, the staff were lovely and very apologetic very nice people cannot fault the staff, but the food I wouldn’t go back.

We enjoyed our meal 😋 Staff are very good 👍🏻 It was rather busy for a Tuesday night food was good. Katsu Chicken 🍗 rice 🍚 and chips 🍟. And Fish 🐠 and chips 😀. No photos as we ate too quickly. Haha. Will send pictures of Sunday carvery instead. DW.

Spent a very good evening at the Good companion. In particular Maz Was very attentive to all our needs along with Scott and Sammy . Thoroughly enjoyed our time there/ we will be back next time we are in the area
